Type J Fixed bayonet style thermocouple for plastic and packaging industry
The Fixed Bayonet Thermocouple is a Wire and tube immersion thermocouple with compressible spring and locking cap. Bayonet Thermocouples are mainly used for applications which require longer immersion depths. The probe of the Bayonet Thermocouple is more rigid, and provides a more suitable contact in a deeper well. The compressible spring outer covering and its locking cap, keep the probe in place securely. The varied 90 Bayonet Thermocouples are often selected for application where space is at a premium, and the 90 bend allows for a tighter, neater installation. All bayonet Thermocouples have flexible extensions (over braid or armor styles) that are ideal for connection to near, or distant junction boxes.

1).Thermocouples respond quite fast due to the positive contact to the measuring surface.
2). The thermocouple sensor is mounted to the process with the use of a fixed spring when a matching adapter is supplied.
3). The thermocouple sensors available are provided with a variety of sheath materials including stainless steels, corrosion resistant and high temperature oxidation resistant alloys.
4). Thermocouple temperature ranges are dependent on the bayonet style, sheath & conductor diameter, and element calibration. The common accessories are a threaded adapter with a locating pin allowing the bayonet cap to be locked in place while under spring tension. Also a pipe or hose clamp that has the adapter welded to the clamp. The clamp sizes can be designed for a large variety of pipe and vessel diameters.
